The Foundation

Fondata nel 2021, la Fondazione De Santillana è un’organizzazione non profit dedicata alla tutela e valorizzazione dell’opera di Laura de Santillana.

Situata sull’isola della Giudecca, la sede della Fondazione – originariamente studio dell’artista – ospita l’Archivio De Santillana, realizzato nei primi anni di attività e tuttora in crescita. L’archivio, sia fisico sia digitale, è accessibile su appuntamento a studiosi, curatori e ricercatori.

Fin dalla sua istituzione, la Fondazione ha promosso progetti espositivi, collaborazioni con musei e università, e iniziative pubbliche volte a sostenere lo studio e la conoscenza dell’opera.

Mission

La missione della Fondazione è conservare, promuovere e valorizzare le opere e i progetti di Laura de Santillana, che abbracciano oltre quarant’anni di ricerca artistica.

Attraverso mostre, visite guidate, progetti editoriali e collaborazioni con istituzioni culturali, la Fondazione intende rendere accessibile la complessità storica, tecnica e teorica della sua pratica a un pubblico sempre più ampio, favorendo occasioni di ricerca, confronto critico e trasmissione del suo lascito.

  • Leon Diaz de Santillana

    CHAIRMAN

    Leon, a 4th-generation member of an esteemed family of designers and artists, established the foundation following the passing of his aunt, Laura, and father, Alessandro, in 2018 and 2019. A UCLA graduate, he entered this field recently to steward their artistic legacies.

  • Daniel P. Lindh

    DIRECTOR

    Daniel uses his PhD in neuroscience and his data science expertise to drive evidence-based solutions for medical products. Skilled in advanced user analyses and predicting trends with machine learning, he's committed to enhancing healthcare outcomes and bridging interdisciplinary gaps.

  • Dr. Michael R. Giffin

    DIRECTOR

    Michael, a neuroscientist and author, advises non-profits on research. Specializing in the neural intricacies of social decisions, he melds behavioral economics with neuroscience to unravel how conflict and societal norms influence brain-behavior dynamics.

Dr. Miriam Rejas Del Pino

Miriam Rejas Del Pino is a curator and researcher holding a PhD in Visual Semiotics and Art Theory from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, and was a visiting scholar at EHESS (Paris). Since 2023 she has been curator of the De Santillana Foundation, where she directs the exhibition program, following her work on the Laura de Santillana Archive together with lead archivist Laura Panchaud (2021–2023).
Her curatorial projects include The Archive Capsule (2025), Microcosmo (Casa Yali, 2024), Laura de Santillana: Beyond Matter (co-curated, Gallerie dell’Accademia, Venice, 2023), and Snap Trap (Palazzo Merulana, Rome, 2021). She publishes in academic journals (Carte Semiotiche, Versus, Venezia Arti, Vesper) and has contributed to catalogs of art institutions and magazines (MART – Trento e Rovereto, Flash Art, Altremuse).
Curator

Lodovica De Vivi

Lodovica De Vivi (Venice, 1996) holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Conservation of Cultural Heritage and a Master’s degree in Communication and Art Education. She has worked as Cultural Manager at an art space in Berlin and as Assistant Manager to a visual artist in Naples. Since 2017, she has collaborated with Pro Helvetia during the Art and Architecture Biennials in Venice as a cultural mediator and member of the organizational team for collateral events.
Since March 2025, she has been working as Studio Manager at The Santillana Foundation, where she coordinates the Foundation’s activities and oversees the organizational management of the space. She is responsible for the public opening and daily management of the Foundation. She also leads cultural mediation initiatives and delivers educational programs and workshops for diverse audiences.
